Charged with delivery of the generation assets required to meet our clients strategic objective of achieving Net Zero operations by 2040. One key goal of the 2040 strategy is the de-carbonisation of our existing generation assets.  Key to this goal is development and delivery of the GB renewables portfolio, currently over 4GW of onshore and offshore wind developments.

 

Our client is seeking applications for the role of Project Manager, Onshore Wind & Renewables, to be based in the Glasgow office.   This is a broad-ranging and dynamic role. The successful applicant will be primarily responsible for the early phase development of onshore wind projects, and potentially other renewable technologies such as battery and solar, in Great Britain, with the main focus on Scotland.   The role will entail working to deliver construction-ready projects both within the project delivery team, and in collaboration with the external development partners. Co-ordination of multi-disciplinary teams both internal and external to deliver planning consents will be a key feature of the role.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the project development of renewable projects from initiation of Concept Phase through to Development Phase, taking guidance from the Project Director
  • Lead development of business case and internal board approvals
  • Lead landowner negotiations, as well as all other required development agreements.
  • Lead delivery of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR), and planning application preparation
  • External Stakeholder management with key bodies e.g.  Energy Consent Unit, local authorities, community groups, public exhibitions and landowners
  • Select and manage contracts with third-party development partners and providers of technical services
  • Regular management reporting and budgetary management
  • Implementation of Health & Safety policies and procedures

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Over 7 years relevant industry experience with specific experience of leading delivery of EIA development applications
  • Excellent knowledge of both S36 and TCPA systems, relevant policy and appeals process in Great Britain, with a focus on Scotland
  • Knowledge and experience of Project Management practice for wind farm development
  • Knowledge and experience of the onshore renewables industry in Great Britain
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good understanding of development land rights, option and lease arrangements
  • Knowledge of grid connection requirements
  • Good knowledge of MS Office software suite
  • Full clean UK driving licence.

 

 

Qualifications

  • 3rd level qualification, SCQF Level 9 or equivalent (Engineering, Construction, Architectural, Ecology, Surveying, Geography or Planning related discipline desirable) or equivalent work experience is required.

 

 

Location

The is a role hybrid role, working both from home and office. The successful candidate will be based at the office in Glasgow and will be expected to travel within Great Britain as required, such as for field work and meetings. Travel to Head Office Dublin will also be required from time-to-time.
