Renewable Energy | Development Manager | Queensland

Job Purpose:
The Development Manager is responsible for managing projects from early stages to notice to proceed, including creating project plans, leading teams, managing budgets, and delivering energy investment objectives for internal stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • At least 8-10 years of experience in engineering, project management, or construction of large civil infrastructure, power generation, and/or transmission/electrical systems.
  • Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with expertise in supporting business case processes, creating project development plans, and managing budgets, schedules, and risks.
  • Significant involvement in the successful investment decision-making for large-scale infrastructure projects, preferably in the renewable energy sector.
  • Experience negotiating major procurement contracts such as EPC, OEM, design, and environmental agreements.
  • Proven leadership and management skills in matrix-structured project teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to delegate, consult, and facilitate teamwork.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage project development on a day-to-day basis, leading the project toward final investment decision and notice to proceed.
  • Support the project’s business case and assist the Development Director in preparing board packs and development plans for project board reporting.
  • Review and refine the project’s devex, capex, schedule, risk, and opportunities matrix.
  • Collaborate with project sponsors to communicate and report on project returns and health to internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure the right project organization and third parties are in place for development and construction.
  • Manage key suppliers and their contracts, including development agreements and construction management agreements.
  • Oversee project development to ensure it stays on time and within budget, managing third-party service providers such as EPC contractors, owner's engineers, and regulatory entities.
  • Support all project procurement processes, integrating legal and commercial reviews as needed.
  • Resolve project issues to safeguard project returns.
  • Provide key support to the project organization to facilitate successful final investment decisions.
