Senior Manager, Data Centers

Position Title: Senior Manager, Data Centers
Employment Type: Full-time
Department: Development

Company Overview:
We are a leading energy transition company focused on developing, constructing, and operating large-scale infrastructure assets in the U.S. Our projects aim to accelerate the decarbonization of the economy. We are actively involved in the development of over 15 GW of solar and energy storage initiatives in the U.S. backed by a prominent global investment firm. Our company is rooted in sustainability and aims to make a significant environmental impact, all while fostering a culture that blends hard work with fun. We focus on connectivity, healthy work-life balance, and creating a positive work environment.

Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Manager to lead our data center development efforts. The ideal candidate should have at least 8 years of experience in real estate and energy project development, particularly in areas like interconnection, energy markets, substation infrastructure, and project management. While expertise in all these areas isn’t required, the role demands an individual who can coordinate effectively and secure the right resources and contractors. A key part of this role will be managing large projects from start to finish, ensuring that timelines and goals are met.

The Senior Manager will report directly to senior leadership and work closely with teams from development, asset management, energy markets, legal, and finance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Lead and manage the development of data center projects, covering site selection, design, permitting, and utility coordination. Develop and monitor project budgets, schedules, and progress to ensure targets are met.

  • Site Selection & Feasibility: Identify and assess potential sites for new data centers, conducting site visits, evaluating infrastructure needs, and performing risk analysis.

  • Design & Engineering: Ensure data center designs integrate seamlessly with energy generation assets. Collaborate with design and engineering teams to meet technical and operational requirements.

  • Permitting & Compliance: Oversee permitting processes, engaging with local authorities, utilities, and environmental agencies to obtain necessary approvals. Ensure adherence to regulatory standards.

  • Energy Supply Negotiation: Work on securing energy supply agreements, collaborating with energy providers to ensure efficient and scalable energy solutions for data centers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 7 years of experience in project management within the energy and infrastructure sectors, with a focus on interconnection, energy markets, and substation infrastructure.
  • Proven success in managing complex projects and cross-functional coordination.
  • Strong understanding of energy market dynamics and infrastructure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A degree in a relevant field is preferred but not mandatory; extensive experience will be considered in place of formal education.
  • Willingness to work from a company hub location at least 3 days per week.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% as required.

Compensation & Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary, benefits, and additional perks. Compensation is determined by various factors including skills, experience, and location. The role may also offer equity options, performance bonuses, and other incentives.

Our Benefits Include:

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) contributions
  • Annual performance bonuses
  • Flexible work hours
  • Unlimited paid time off to maintain a healthy work-life balance
  • Paid holidays
  • Wellness and cell phone credits
  • Life and AD&D insurance
  • Employee Resource Groups for community and support
  • Professional development opportunities

We believe in fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace and offer benefits that support both personal and professional growth.
