Civil Engineer

Location: Salinas, California

Position Overview: We are seeking a Civil Engineer with a collaborative and leadership mindset and strong technical engineering skills to join our team. This role involves serving public agency and private clients throughout the Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito tri-county area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop project design concepts, reports, and construction plans, specifications, and estimate documents.
  • Manage contracts and budgets while supervising and training design staff.
  • Coordinate with team members, clients, agency staff, and others in the production and delivery of professional services.
  • Lead business development efforts and grow the office.
  • Supervise and mentor mid-to-entry level staff.
  • Travel to San Luis Obispo on a monthly or bi-monthly basis for team coordination activities.

Specific Experience:

  • History of successfully undertaking greater responsibilities during their career.
  • Experience in Civil & Transportation Engineering, Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Public Works Administration and Permitting, Surveying & GIS, and Water Resources.
  • Focus on public agency work from planning through construction.
  • Experience in managing clients and staff.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • California Professional Engineer registration.
  • Minimum of twelve years of qualifying design and project management experience.
  • Knowledge of various computer programs such as MS Office, CAD, and discipline-specific software.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer for an average 8-hour work shift.
  • Vision to independently view computer screens or printed materials and graphics.
  • Mobility to stand or walk on job sites as required.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Hearing and speech skills to effectively communicate in English in person and over the telephone.

Compensation:

  • $132,000 - $185,000 depending on experience.
