Interconnection Engineer

Position Overview:
As an Interconnection Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in our renewable energy projects, focusing on the seamless integration of renewable power generation into the electrical grid. Based in Dallas, you will collaborate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to navigate regulatory requirements, design interconnection solutions, and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate interconnection feasibility for renewable energy projects, assessing technical and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with grid operators, utilities, and regulatory agencies to facilitate project approvals and interconnection agreements.
  • Design interconnection configurations and ensure compliance with grid codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Coordinate with internal engineering teams to optimize grid integration and resolve technical challenges during project development and execution.
  • Conduct studies and simulations to analyze grid impacts and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare technical documents, reports, and presentations for regulatory submissions and project stakeholders.
  • Monitor and stay updated on relevant industry standards, grid policies, and market trends impacting interconnection strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in electrical engineering, specifically in interconnection or power systems engineering.
  • Experience in renewable energy project development and familiarity with utility-scale solar or wind projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of electrical grid infrastructure, interconnection processes, and regulatory frameworks (NERC, FERC, local PUC regulations).
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools for grid modeling, such as PSS/E, PSCAD, or DIgSILENT.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
