Commercial Construction Manager UK

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the contractual and financial aspects of various projects during the construction phase in collaboration with the project team. Monitor the commercial and financial performance of projects, focusing on risk mitigation and opportunity maximization.
  • Develop and execute strategies to enhance the financial performance of renewable energy projects throughout contract administration.
  • Prepare and deliver regular financial performance reports for projects, including key performance indicators, risks, opportunities, cash flow, and contingency management.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and policy changes related to renewable energy to guide project delivery strategies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with project partners, suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and successful project outcomes.
  • Administer, monitor, and report on the commercial aspects of active construction contracts, including variations, claims, and payment applications.
  • Assist the broader business in drafting contractual terms and conditions for construction and engineering contracts related to solar PV and BESS projects.
  • Conduct site visits as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Over 5 years of experience in commercial/contract management within the construction sector, including the successful closure of multiple contracts, preferably in the renewables sector.
  • A strong commercial approach to risk versus reward assessments at both pre- and post-contract stages.
  • Preferably hold a master's degree in a relevant discipline such as quantity surveying, contract management, cost control, engineering, procurement, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and analyze data, financial models, and technical reports to support informed decision-making.
  • Solid technical knowledge in commercial and contract management of construction projects, particularly those based on FIDIC contracts.
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, capable of effectively conveying complex information to a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to think critically and creatively to address challenges and add value to projects.
  • A proactive and self-motivated attitude, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license for the UK and Ireland.
