Director of Origination

Position Overview:
As the Director of Origination, you will lead our efforts in identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities within the renewable energy sector in Arizona. You will play a critical role in expanding our market presence, establishing strategic partnerships, and driving revenue growth through origination and development of renewable energy projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive origination strategy to identify and capture new business opportunities in renewable energy markets, with a focus on Arizona.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including utilities, developers, landowners, investors, and regulatory agencies to support project development and commercial negotiations.
  • Lead the origination team in evaluating project feasibility, conducting market assessments, and identifying potential sites for solar, wind, and energy storage projects.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams including project development, finance, legal, and engineering to advance projects from origination through to commercial operation.
  • Negotiate and execute power purchase agreements (PPAs), land leases, and other commercial agreements to secure project development rights.
  • Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and policy changes affecting renewable energy markets in Arizona to inform strategic decision-making and business development efforts.
  • Prepare and present business cases, project proposals, and updates to senior management and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in origination, business development, or sales within the renewable energy industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully originating and securing renewable energy projects, with a deep understanding of project finance, PPAs, and project development processes.
  • Strong network and established relationships within the renewable energy industry in Arizona.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and effectively manage multiple projects and priorities.
