In collaboration with the Vice President of Project Execution, the Senior Project Manager is responsible for managing projects from late-stage development and financial close through commercial operation, ensuring Company’s EPCM KPI’s are exceeded in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Improvement by third party EPC contractors. The Senior Project Manager will support constructability review for development projects, oversee all EPC activities during construction phase, and support closeout to final acceptance. They may oversee multiple utility-scale solar and BESS projects in construction and will support engineering, legal, and finance staff supporting the projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensure Safety is held to the highest level in all aspects of managing projects
- Partnering with the Development team to ensure an efficient transition of projects through the construction and financial close-out stage
- Supporting review and analysis of EPC bids to support overall RFP negotiation
- Managing requests for Information and Change Management processes during construction
- Experience should include tracking deliverables, schedules, cashflow, managing change orders, and providing notices or dispute resolution if required
- Identifying risks to project success and work with internal and external parties to establish, where needed, mitigation plans, to maintain project schedules and budgets
- Ensuring internal and external teams work to satisfy close out of zoning, construction and financial conditions
- Arranging, organizing, and maintaining regularly scheduled project meetings communication and projects’ statuses and delegate project tasks
- Presenting and reporting to management on cash flow, schedule and risks
- Working closely with the Project Finance Leads to review accurate input to financial models and close out of requirements for financing milestones
- Understanding compliance requirements of project contracts like power purchase agreements, Interconnection agreements, and land use permits and all other required permitting
- Ensure EPC’s maintains positive relationships with landowners, AHJ’s, and utilities during the construction.
- Working with procurement leads to understand long lead equipment and ensure timing and costs are accurately reflected in schedules.
- Managing deliverables from the Owner’s Engineer
- Improving and developing project management tools and processes
- Ensuring effective coordination and information sharing within the multi-disciplinary project team
- Managing Operations and Maintenance contract handoff and coordination and ensure closeout of EPC contract at Final Acceptance
- Act as a project liaison with all internal departments, consultants, landlords, governing authorities, etc. and coordinate towards common goals while making critical decisions in a professional manner
- Ability to effectively coordinate and handle, under pressure, multiple projects with a high degree of independence and professional judgment to deliver projects and meeting Company/Team KPI’s of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Improvement.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Undergraduate Degree in engineering, project management, construction management, or equivalent preferred
- PMP study or similar coursework around the principles of project management.
- Minimum of 5 years professional experience in a utility scale solar projects or construction project management.
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail, decision making/problem solving, analytical and time management skills.
- Proficient understanding of entire solar project life cycle
- Experience with High Voltage Interconnection aspects of a projects scope of work
- Preference to have experience with BESS project management and construction.
- Ability to work both independently and as a part of team and knowing when to seek help
- Flexibility to modify course in real-time in response to fluid facts and circumstances
- Proactive and solution-focused communication skills which extend across all organizational and management levels.
- Exceptional ability to instill confidence as a credible, reliable and expert subject matter expert for team members in technical matters.
- Procore, Sales Force, SharePoint, Scheduling Software experience and proficiency preferred.
- Experience in support of negotiating contracts with contract managers
- Ability to travel 35%, on average.
Location(s): We are open to remote - preferably west coast based to easily support our PNW sites.
